FAQ

What is a "subluxation"?

A subluxation is a loss in normal position and/or motion of one or more of the moveable bones in your spine. Vertebrae which do not function properly within the spinal framework generate mechanical stress. These happen when your bodies capacity to adapt to stress is surpassed. The stresses that can cause subluxations to be present in the body are:

• Physical: Examples such as falls and accidents (big or small!), athletic training, car accidents, sitting all day, poor posture, texting and sleeping posture

• Chemical: Examples such as environmental pollution, in adegquate nutrition, artificial sweeteners and sugars and alcohol

• Emotional: Examples such as financial conerns, unhealthy relationships (personal and in the workplace), lack of or poor sleep, loss of loved one and personality stressors like being a perfectionist!

These are just to name a few!  Only a chiropractor is training to accurately detect and successfully correct subluxations.

What are adjustments that the chiropractor performs?

The adjustment is a safe, natural, non-invasive procedure used by the chiropractor to restore and improve spinal health and integrity. Learning the art of adjusting is a skill that requires years of study and practice. Chiropractic doctors are the only health care professionals trained to deliver the chiropractic adjustment.  The adjustment is usually delivered using the hands or through the use of a specialized mechanical tool.
